About Us
Your hosts Caroline and Mike have lived in the village for many years and Caroline, who was born in the village, her family going back generations. They are both very active and fully embrace the good fortune of living in such a beautiful part of the world and are more than happy to share their local knowledge of the numerous walks, cycle trails, their favourite kayaking spots and their general knowledge of what the stunning county of Cornwall has to offer.
The property faces south south west and is situated in a quite residential part of the village overlooking the Mevagissey valley and is yet only a few minutes stroll down a steep hill into the village and the hustle and bustle of the working harbour, not forgetting that you have to return up the same steep hill back to Linton! Linton has private secure parking and a large sun terrace where you can relax and take in the views with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine whilst watching the sun go down.
Mevagissey, derived from the names of two Irish saints, “ST MEVA” and “ST ISSEY” is a traditional Cornish fishing village which dates back to the 17th century but with records going back to the 13th century with local settlements known to be on the same site as far back as the bronze age.
Fishing, and in particular the Pilchard industry would have been the primary source of income with Mevagissey harbour beginning construction in the late 1700’s where a thriving fishing industry operated from and is still alive and well today.
